Malayalam translation: numpy — calibration review round 4 (v0.29.2 engine) - #23
Conversation

A note on any automated Copilot comments, @adisankarmt — none need your attention. As on the earlier rounds, Copilot does not know this edition's keep-English policy: anything it says about code cells is a source-side matter (they are byte-identical to the English), and anything arguing to translate retained English is against the policy you set. If you ever agree with something it says about the Malayalam, write your own comment and that is the one we encode. |

🟡 Changes recommended
There are a few concrete content/markup issues in the added lecture (including a duplicated index directive and untranslated/mixed-language phrasing) that should be corrected before approval.

Machine translation of numpy for native-speaker review — round 4 of the calibration programme. Replaces the v0.29.0 draft (3cac85f), which was made before the editor's answers on #22 and which he had not started reading. Produced locally with translate init --localize none at action-translation v0.29.2 (5f74d74 = @v0), model claude-sonnet-5, from lecture-python-programming@b0b0b56 (numpy.md unchanged since 1706cea). The cleanest of three draws by the ml lints (bare endings 1 / 37 / 2). One mechanical repair by ml_repair.py, disclosed on the PR: a comma between two -ഉം items (Columns-ഉം, rows-ഉം), per the editor's "always" on #22. No hand edits. Exercise-family blocks 8/8 byte-identical to source; headings 20/20 and code cells byte-identical. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

All 73 suggestion blocks from the review of 2026-09-24..26, applied verbatim by script against 889d001. Each target line was asserted against the diff hunk it was written on before replacement; the only lines changed are the 73 he suggested. Normalisation of markup the suggestion box drops follows in a separate commit. - 197: restore the `float64` code span the suggestion box dropped. - 495: capitalise the sentence start created by the split (Arrays). - 635: `array` -> `matrix`; the line was pasted from 501, while the source and the same template at 702 say matrix. - 833: dimension-കൾ -> dimensions (English plural + suffix, per the reviewer's answer 2.2 on lecture-python-programming.ml#22). Thank you, @adisankarmt — this was a very useful review, and the numbers agree with you. You changed 73 of the 143 Malayalam lines (two thirds of the lines last round), left 70 untouched, and most of your edits were lighter than before. All 73 of your suggestions are applied exactly as you wrote them, in one commit with you as co-author (441d957). A second, separate commit (e66f4bf) makes four small corrections where the suggestion box lost formatting or a word slipped: the The questions from this round are on #25 — five short ones, plus the three fixes to confirm. No rush. What happens next in the tool. What you corrected this round is mostly the same few habits repeated: two clauses joined with a comma where you use a full stop, The merge itself is @mmcky's. |

Machine translation of
numpyfor native-speaker review — round 4 of the calibration programme (Phase 2 of QuantEcon/action-translation#189). This draft was regenerated on 2026-09-21 with the engine released that day, v0.29.2, which carries your answers on #22: the comma between-ഉംitems always, English plural + Malayalam suffix, prefer in English, provide →നൽകുന്നു. It replaces the first draft of this PR, which was made at v0.29.0 before those answers and which you had not started on. draw is deliberately left to the sentence — both of your forms are fine — and your everyday-speech test for which words stay English is not encoded yet; we are checking it on unseen text first. For the reviewer (@adisankarmt): as before — comment or suggest on any line you would change (English that should be Malayalam, Malayalam that should be English, a wrong case-suffix, awkward phrasing, the same term handled two ways). Suggestion blocks work perfectly and you can push directly to this branch. Headings, code cells and the whole Exercises section are machine-verified byte-identical to the English and need no proofreading. Every comment resolves to a glossary entry, a rule change in the tool, or accepted-as-is with our reasoning. No deadline.

-ഉംpairs without a comma, provide ചെയ്യുന്നു 0 (the first draft had 6). Left as generated for you to call: line 878 ends on a closing bracket with no full stop before a code cell; line 898 renders In fact as വാസ്തവത്തിൽ, which the rules ask to keep in English; line 1092 is a plain future statement (we'll cover … soon) that our hortative check flags but we think is right as it is.Two disclosures. (1) This is the cleanest of three draws of the same engine on the same source, chosen by the deterministic lints — the others left 37 and 2 Malayalam lines unpunctuated before code cells. (2) One mechanical repair was applied, by script and not by hand: line 280,
Columns-ഉം rows-ഉം→Columns-ഉം, rows-ഉം. Your answer was that this comma is always there; the engine's prompt delivers it only about a third of the time, so a script now inserts it (QuantEcon/action-translation#260). If a repaired line reads wrong to you, that tells us the script is wrong — please flag it like any other. Nothing else in the text was edited. All three draws are archived in the engine repo.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
