@adisankarmt — these are the open questions from your round-4 review of numpy (#23), collected here so they outlive that PR's merge. All 73 of your suggestions are already applied on the PR exactly as you wrote them. Nothing here changes the page — your answers decide what the translation tool learns next. No deadline, and a short reply is all we need: one word per row is plenty.
What your review told us. You left 70 of the 143 Malayalam lines untouched (22 in matplotlib), and your edits were lighter again. Everything we taught the tool after rounds 2 and 3 came through clean: full stops and colons, capitals, നമുക്ക് … -ആം, For example, the English plurals, provide → നൽകുന്നു, and the comma in Columns-ഉം, rows-ഉം that a script inserted. What remains is mostly sentences joined with a comma where you split them, plus a few word habits you changed every time (കാണുക → നോക്കുക for see, ഓരോ element-ലും for element-wise, കണ്ടുകഴിഞ്ഞു for already seen). We will fix those in the tool with small scripts rather than more instructions, and test them on your own sentences first.
1. Five questions.
| # |
Item |
One way |
The other way |
Our guess |
| 1 |
Lines 834–836 (the three examples under Step 1): … ഒരു dimension ചേർത്ത്, അതിനെ `b -> (1, 2, 2)` ആകും; |
ആക്കും ("makes it") — because അതിനെ comes before it |
ആകും, as you wrote it (the same in all three lines, so it may be deliberate) |
ആക്കും, but your call. We applied your text exactly and will change it only if you say so |
| 2 |
A bullet that continues the sentence before the list, when the English item starts with a small letter (line 495, arrays-ന്റെ ഈ dimensions, …) |
Capital letter, as in functions |
Small letter, as you kept here and in matplotlib |
Not sure — your call |
| 3 |
Now |
ഇനി when it means "next, let's move on" |
ഇപ്പോൾ when it means "at this moment" (you changed line 1117, while this code is running, to ഇപ്പോൾ) |
Both, depending on the meaning |
| 4 |
Your test for everyday words ("would a Kerala student say this word in conversation?") — is it a permission or a requirement? This round you moved contiguous, existing, extend to Malayalam but kept obtain, alter, distinct, interpret in English in lines you rewrote |
Permission: if both forms are fine, leave the word as it is |
Requirement: a bookish English word should always become Malayalam |
Permission |
| 5 |
For example, at the start of a sentence |
Always English, as you kept it here six times |
ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്, is also fine (you kept it twice in functions) |
English preferred, both acceptable |
2. Three small fixes we made to your text — please confirm. The suggestion box sometimes loses formatting, so we made these as a separate commit. Say if any is wrong and we will put yours back.
| Line |
You wrote |
We changed it to |
Why |
| 635 |
… ഒരു $3 \times 3$ array ലഭിക്കും: |
… ഒരു $3 \times 3$ matrix ലഭിക്കും: |
The English says matrix here, and line 501 above has the same sentence with array — it looked copied from there |
| 833 |
പുതിയ dimension-കൾ ചേർത്ത് |
പുതിയ dimensions ചേർത്ത് |
Your answer on #22 — English plural, then the Malayalam ending |
| 495 |
… അനുവദിക്കുന്നു. arrays വലുതാകുമ്പോൾ … |
… അനുവദിക്കുന്നു. Arrays വലുതാകുമ്പോൾ … |
A new sentence starts there after your split |
We also put back the code formatting on `float64` at line 197, which the suggestion box had dropped.
Thank you — four rounds in, the tool's remaining habits are ones you can see and count, and your corrections are what showed us them.
