Embedded response modal and behavior tests web/src/components/UpdateOs/CheckUpdateResponseModal.vue, web/__test__/components/CheckUpdateResponseModal.test.ts |
The response modal adds an optional embedded mode that renders a card when open and retains the standard responsive modal otherwise. Tests cover both modes and response interactions. |
Update status refresh action web/src/components/UpdateOs/Status.vue, web/__test__/components/UpdateOsStatus.test.ts |
The status component uses a shared update-check handler and conditionally shows a refresh button. Tests cover its visibility, disabled state, update-check action, and release-modal action. |
Tools page update check and modal integration web/src/components/UpdateOs.standalone.vue, web/src/components/Modals.standalone.vue, web/__test__/components/UpdateOs.test.ts, web/__test__/components/Modals.test.ts |
The standalone component checks for updates on the tools page when no reboot is pending and opens the response modal for known releases. The modal container hides its update modals on that page. Tests cover route, reboot, and modal behavior. |

Full details: Title check
-
Explanation
The title "fix(updates): embed internal OS checks on Tools page" matches the main change. The PR embeds the OS update check and response modal in the Tools update page, so users can check for releases and view results inline. The title is specific and short, and it follows a conventional commit prefix. It does not cover the removal of the account redirect or the duplicate-dialog suppression, which is expected for a title.

Current names suggest pathname controls rendering, but assertions now only verify status rendering independent of path.

only verifies the test stub, not the real UpdateOsStatus behavior; change the
test to either mount the real UpdateOsStatus component so you can assert its
runtime behavior (e.g., check emitted events or rendered DOM from
UpdateOsStatus) or remove the stub-prop assertion and instead assert observable
output — for example, keep
expect(wrapper.find('[data-testid="update-os-status"]').exists()).toBe(true) and
replace
expect(wrapper.findComponent(UpdateOsStatusStub).props('showUpdateCheck')).toBe(true)
with an assertion against the actual rendered DOM or emitted event from
UpdateOsStatus (or mount UpdateOs and assert its prop/state) using
wrapper.findComponent(UpdateOsStatus) or inspecting its emitted events.

include it in the computed showRefreshButton (alongside updateAvailable,

287-430: 🏗️ Heavy liftEmbedded layout duplicates the ResponsiveModal content.
The embedded
CardWrapperblock (lines 288-429) is a near-verbatim copy of the innerResponsiveModalcontent (lines 440-610): the title/description header, loading state, update-highlight section, no-update content, extra-links, ignored-releases list, and the "more options" tooltip + action buttons are all repeated. The two copies have already diverged (see the missing ignore-release tooltip below), which is exactly the failure mode duplication invites. Consider extracting the shared body into a child component (or a single slot rendered inside eitherCardWrapperorResponsiveModal) so both modes stay in sync.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Summary
Tools → Update OS now uses one card for checks, results, and reboot preparation; failed checks show Retry and preserve the last release. The same result content is reused in dialogs elsewhere.
Why This Exists
The embedded result repeated release status and actions already shown above it. Separate card/dialog content also drifted, and the pending-driver state could lose its update response.
Resolution
Keep one shared result component with card and responsive-dialog containers. Tools owns its card and changelog throughout the flow; the global modal host handles update dialogs on other routes. Use the existing update, licensing, verification, and installation actions.

A final merge-tree check against it is clean; runtime evidence is pinned to the merged revision stated above.Risk
The change affects shared card/dialog presentation and local check feedback. The update-result guard is limited to the OS check service; other shared request callers are unchanged. Legacy narrow-screen shell header overlap and the unnamed shared mobile close icon remain outside this change. QA establishes packaged UI/request behavior and the clean diskless-VM native upgrade/reboot path. Actual third-party-driver preservation, physical storage, downgrade, and license purchasing/replacement remain outside that acceptance.
Keep this PR draft and unmerged.
