Summary

  • Adds ms_teams_graph_sink, an MS Teams sink that posts Adaptive Cards to channels with the Microsoft Graph API. It signs in as a service user (ROPC with delegated ChannelMessage.Send), because Graph doesn't allow posting channel messages with application permissions.
  • One sink can post to any channel of any team the service user belongs to. It routes per finding with namespace_channel_override (namespace labels/annotations), then channel_override (subject labels/annotations), then the default channel, or drops the finding when send_to_default_if_missing: false. An override value can be <channel_id> or <team_id>/<channel_id>.
  • Images are sent as message hostedContents, not inline base64. If Teams rejects them, the message is resent without images.
  • Sign-in failures back off for 5 minutes, so a wrong password doesn't trigger Entra ID smart lockout on every alert.
  • Refactors:
    • The namespace → subject → default routing moved from the Webex sink to core/sinks/common/destination_override.py, shared by Webex and the new sink.
    • MsTeamsMsg only builds the card now. The webhook POST and the block-to-card loop (write_enrichments) moved out of the webhook sender, so the Graph message can reuse the card rendering.
  • Docs: docs/configuration/sinks/ms-teams-graph.rst, covering Entra ID setup, the Teams license step, routing, and a troubleshooting table.

Tests performed

  • Unit tests: tests/test_msteams_graph_sink.py (routing, token caching and refresh, sign-in backoff, message shape, retry without images), plus the existing Teams transformer and SVG conversion tests (56 passed).
  • Real Microsoft 365 test tenant, runner built from this branch on a kind cluster:
    • Namespace annotation routing, alert label routing, and fallback to the default channel posted without errors.
    • An annotation pointing to a channel that doesn't exist logged a Graph 404 and didn't fall back to the default channel.
    • A finding with an SVG graph (converted to PNG), a PNG, and a text log, sent with the branch's sender and Graph client from a local script: Graph returned 201 with 2 hosted images.
  • Not tested: Graph 429 throttling under alert storms, and national clouds (authority_host / graph_endpoint).

- ms_teams_graph_sink: ROPC sign-in as a service user, posts Adaptive Cards to
channels, routes by namespace/subject labels and annotations like Webex/Slack
- Shared destination override helper, used by Webex too
- MsTeamsMsg renders blocks for both the webhook and Graph senders
- Sign-in backoff to avoid Entra ID account lockout
- Docs page and unit tests
- Ignore tmp/ scratch folder

Not yet tested against a real Teams tenant.

MsTeamsMsg now only builds the adaptive card, so MsTeamsGraphMsg no longer
passes an empty webhook_url or inherits a webhook send().

Walkthrough

Adds a Microsoft Teams Graph API sink with configurable destinations, delegated authentication, Adaptive Card messages, and image handling. Adds shared destination resolution for the Graph and Webex sinks, updates Teams message construction, and adds documentation, tests, and a Git ignore rule for tmp/ directories.

Changes

Microsoft Teams Graph sink

Layer / File(s) Summary
Sink configuration and registration
src/robusta/core/sinks/msteams_graph/*, src/robusta/core/model/runner_config.py, src/robusta/core/sinks/sink_factory.py, docs/configuration/sinks/*, docs/notification-routing/configuring-sinks.rst
Defines Graph sink parameters and registers the sink with runner configuration and the sink factory. Adds setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and navigation documentation.
Destination resolution
src/robusta/core/sinks/common/destination_override.py, src/robusta/core/sinks/msteams_graph/msteams_graph_sink.py, src/robusta/core/sinks/webex/webex_sink.py, tests/test_msteams_graph_sink.py
Resolves namespace overrides before subject overrides. Applies default-or-drop behavior and uses the shared resolver in both sinks. Tests cover routing and sink behavior.
Graph authentication and message transport
src/robusta/integrations/msteams/graph/graph_client.py, tests/test_msteams_graph_sink.py
Adds Graph token handling, channel-message requests, and error extraction. Tests cover token caching, URL encoding, refresh, and sign-in backoff.
Card construction and finding delivery
src/robusta/integrations/msteams/graph/*, src/robusta/integrations/msteams/msteams_msg.py, src/robusta/integrations/msteams/sender.py, tests/test_msteams_graph_sink.py
Builds Graph Adaptive Card messages and handles files and images. Retries selected failed posts without images. Refactors shared Teams card construction and webhook posting. Tests check card contents and image retry behavior.

Temporary directory ignore rule

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 39cb6

The new Teams Graph sink works for the main routing paths. Before merge, handle sign-in and request failures inside the sink, add a timeout to the webhook post, and clarify the routing docs. These are small, localized fixes.

…/default_channel_id

Makes it clear they are the fallback destination when channel routing doesn't resolve.

…stination

Matches the other sinks (Slack's slack_channel, Webex's room_id). The docs keep the clearer description of when the default channel is used.
