Summary

Michael's decision 2026-10-27: the machine setup / onboarding note (install recipe, host table, per-host quirks for the Mac, ww18, the Bergamo PC, ww14) belongs in rig-nodes (reiserlab/rig-nodes#2 adds SETUP.md there), because rig PCs and the robot station install that package set with or without the web tools. This PR adds the arena side:

  • rig/SETUP.md: only what exists because of the arena application — the workspace environments and the cd rig rule, pixi run rig vs bridge 3.4, the Studio ↔ gateway connect (Production URL, the local http.server branch-test recipe, the Studio emulator), Web Serial, the course repo, where the dated per-machine records are.
  • rig/README.md: a one-line pointer under the title (outside the hunks PR rig: install the shared ROS 2 package set from reiserlab/rig-nodes (extraction, LAB-338) #274 touches).

Tier

docs-only (no code; may merge directly). Record: docs/development/rig-software-repos-and-runners.md §7.11. LAB-338, LAB-303.

…ETUP.md

Machine setup (install recipe, host table, per-host quirks) now lives in rig-nodes, where
every rig PC installs from; this page keeps only what exists because of the arena
application (Studio ↔ gateway, Web Serial, course repo, the branch-test recipe).
