Tip

  • I'm currently working on Demake86 and dabbling with iOS app development.
  • You can reach me through email, see lynndotpy.dev/about.
  • I am currently not looking to collaborate on non-commercial projects.

Hi, my name is Lynn. I'm a fullstack dev and former CS PhD student, with a research interest in DLNN / AI and specifically applications in cybersecurity and connected autonomous vehicles. I believe computing for data-science and visualization has a social role not dissimilar to cryptography. My most recent stack was in PostgreSQL, C#/ASP.NET, TypeScript, and Angular, with tooling in Python, Rust, and Go.

I created the Reso graphic logic circuit language and the videogame Demake86, plus a few other things. I'm a lifelong "luser" (Linux user) and I am using those skills as sysadmin for a few online communities.

I particularly like the following technology:

  • Python is great for rapid iteration. It has a library for everything, the best REPL interfaces, and can even be used for embedded prototyping.
  • Pure TypeScript / JS + HTML+CSS is great for being the most portable way to distribute software to people, like this [IPS tool[(https://bbbradsmith.github.io/ipstool/).
  • Rust has been evangelized enough, I like it.
  • Go.
  • Godot has been the best FOSS game engine since 2016. I've built virtual submarine training systems in it, bespoke machinery for physical tabletop games, as well as tiny games. I love Godot.

On LLMs: I left my AI PhD as my optimism for a better future faded to pessimism, concern, and horror. Much of the recent productivity gain attributed to LLMs instead come from lower standards of quality and reliability. LLMs can be used to improve code quality, but only in the right hands. So, I am open to collaborating with people who take software engineering as a serious craft, who also retain high pre-2022 standards. I will never use LLMs to generate text for human consumption and I ask you never to send me LLM-generated text.

I have a citizen-science interest in psychometrics, especially in perception of age and sound. I very much enjoy hiking. Photo is of an August sunrise on a North Carolina beach. Please feel free to reach out and say hi :)
