About

Rails platforms are what I build, run in production, and lead teams on.

Today I'm the hands-on CTO of DiTrack, the fleet-tracking business I founded in Peru in 2012. The platform is Rails, PostgreSQL and Python, and it takes raw GPS tracker data all the way to tracking, geofencing and alerts. Architecture, deployment and incident response are mine, against a 99.9% uptime target. Infrastructure costs: down 90%.

Until March 2026 I was VP of AI & Engineering at Target Test Prep, leading six engineers across four continents. LLMs went into production there. TAEGIS handled AI-assisted exercise analysis, next to a GMAT exercise generator and automated educational content, all built on the Anthropic API with Amazon Bedrock and OpenAI.

Earlier, at Suggestion Ox, I improved development velocity by 80% on a multi-tenant Rails platform. At BairesDev I was Technical Lead on a logistics MVP, from stakeholder requirements to client handoff.

How I work

  • Claude Code and Codex, daily. Review and tests stay with me, so AI never gets the last word.
  • Any database change an AI helped write gets checked against runtime and query times before it ships.
