Before: Workbench runs on Ambion 0.5.0. The specialists read the camera and the power supply with connect and observe over sensor protocol version 1. Each seat holds seat and unseat, and a Pi seat gets its prompt as a late developer message.

After: Workbench runs on Ambion 0.6.0. The sensor templates serve protocol version 2 on $PORT, and the specialists read them with fetch. Each seat holds compose and describe. The room starts with seating: false, so no seat holds seat or unseat. A Pi seat gets its prompt as the system prompt (an Ambion fix).

How:

  • Bump every @ambionframework/* package to 0.6.0, and add @ambionframework/compose to the release-age exclusions.
  • Port templates/usb-camera and templates/psu to protocol version 2: GET /, GET /<sensor>/observe, GET /files/<sha256>, api: 2, JSON errors. The Python tests follow.
  • Rewrite the skills and READMEs that taught connect, observe, status, and clone.
  • Rebuild the viewfinder on workspace.processes.list and workspace.fetch. It follows the newest running process named camera.
  • Remove the version 1 manifest preview, because fetch keeps the raw body and the frame as plain snapshots.
  • Open the workspace with rooms: true, and show the approval step and nested calls in the step view.

Bump every @ambionframework package to 0.6.0 and add compose to the
release age exclusions.

Port the usb-camera and psu templates to sensor protocol version 2. Each
server listens on $PORT, prints no ready line, and answers GET requests.
Specialists read the sensors with fetch. The skills, the READMEs, and the
docs teach bash, wait with timeout 0, and fetch in place of connect,
observe, and status. They use git clone in place of the clone tool.

Rebuild the viewfinder on workspace.processes.list and workspace.fetch.
It follows the newest running process named camera. Remove the manifest
preview, which fetch does not produce.

Show approval steps and nested compose calls in the step view. Start rooms
with seating off, and open the workspace with the room mirror on. Replace
the removed sensor conformance suite with Workbench checks of the protocol.

The camera README names the real export folder of fetch, ~/.fetch/camera/.
The skills name clone as an argument of fork. The viewfinder chooses a
process only after its first list settles, so it shows no false note.

Vitest now sets the limits of a test, a hook, and a teardown. A
worker that does not stop fails the run.

The check script starts each step in its own process group. A step
that runs past its limit gets SIGTERM, then SIGKILL, for the whole
group. The step fails with one line that names the command and the
limit. The default limit is 300 s. The Python suites keep 120 s.

The camera test on the workstation waits for the server until a
deadline and reports the last error. Its limit now exceeds the sum of
its waits. The workstation target of the Makefile runs both tests.
